This photo reminded me of a video blog I did back a few years ago. An intriguing shot. Explains Eric Hevesy, the photographer, “This photo was taken with a telephoto lens looking out of my teaching dormitory at my university in Dalian. I used vignette to kind of highlight towards the center of the photo.”

Photo: Marketing with Teeth

I found this shot equal parts interesting and disturbing. The teeth are displayed in the storefront of a small dentist in Lianzhou, Guangdong, for what I can only assume is to illustrate how many successful teeth pullings the dentist has undertaken. The black and white treatment and lack of context gives the photo an eerie Auschwitzian feel. The photographer, Flickr user fractal*, has a great photostream with many more fantastic B&W shots. Be sure to take a look.
Photo: Kunming side-street fashion show

Lost Laowai blogger Matt Muller is traveling around Kunming and working his way south to Laos for the Golden Week (smart guy getting out of China for the week). He grabbed this shot in Kunming. From Matt: “It is a random ‘lingerie show’ showcased by a Chinese model on a side street in Kunming and away from the touristic center. The clientele seems to consist solely of taxi drivers and other men taking a rest break during the pre-lunch rush hour. This is one of many I snapped, but the most interesting one: Note the old lady with the hump back on right side of pic. Is she the model’s delighted and proud grandmother?”
Photo: To Be Destroyed

Having just returned from Beijing myself, this image of a Beijing Hutong marked with “拆“, which essentially means “to destroy” was especially poignant. Yet another great capture from regular Lost Laowai Flickr pool submitter Elephantonabicycle.
