Simply put, a Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a way in which you can create a secure, encrypted tunnel between your computer and a computer elsewhere on the Internet.

how-vpn-works The reason it’s no doubt relevant to you, dear foreigner in China, is that it allows you to use the Internet as it was intended: unfettered by censorship, secure from data snoopers, and masked from geo-location blocks.

Even if you weren’t in China, a good VPN would be highly recommended, as it adds an additional layer of security to your online adventures.
