Chinabounder returns, identity revealed?

ChinabounderEveryone’s favourite China user and abuser, Chinabounder, has returned – flicking the lights back on at his blog: Sex and Shanghai/欲望上海.

As with his last return, he seems much more focused on sticking it to the Chinese government than he does sticking it to random Chinese girls – that was after all what originally gained him so much infamy.

The main reason he seems to have logged back into his Blogspot account after a six month absence is to tout a new book, Fault Lines on the Face of China: 50 Reasons Why China Will Never Be Great, by David Marriott and Karl Lacroix.

The book, which was allegedly published recently in Japan by Random House Kodansha, is definitely not searching for common ground with the Middle Kingdom, and from its press release seems more incitement than insightful. Points in case, the chapter list:

  • The Domestic Imperialists
  • Children – The Endangered Species
  • The Godless
  • The Mirror of Japan – The War of Apology
  • Hegemony with Chinese Characteristics
  • Once the Masters of Invention
  • The Fallibility of Chinese Characters
  • A Nation of Health Terrorists
  • It Takes a Man to Hold Up Half the Sky
  • Daughters, Wives and Mothers in Fear

Chinabounder’s connection to the book is left vague, but he has announced that in its pages is revealed his true identity. Once it held high bounty with the human search engines, now however, does anyone really care?

Update – 07/18/08

Looks like Chinabounder has given up his identity to The Guardian – and with little surprise, it is David Marriott, one of the authors of the book mentioned above.

I actually saw a mention of him in Chinese magazine article about dating foreign men.
I guess with all the attention a book is no surprise. (After all, attention will get just about anyone writing. Regardless of how good they may be at it…)

He has got tonational news in the UK. Probably silly sweason padding, but there nonetheless. See http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/china/2306518/%27ChinaBounder%27-sex-blogger-reveals-his-identity.html

actually I think David Marriott is impetent asshole, same as the other dunces in China who are afraid of the growth of the eastern dragon. Mr Dave is too much sissy, I guess he dare not back to China, otherwise, I would send my best regards to his mom.
so fuck you,David Marriott, suck yourself at home and have fun. asshole

@Rosario: Always nice to have the level-headed Chinese opinion.

Let’s go back to the basic. Someone is taking advantage of his teaching job and dragging those innocents students to bed. Would you be carefree if someone like him is teaching at your local school, does’t matter if is in UK,Australia or China?

Here is another question. Are you going to waste your time to read book written by this person? He is lucky enough not to be firing from his job or thrown in jail, but I don’t think he is lucky enough to make this sick mind’s person book become popular.

      • Ryan says:

You’re getting away from basics if you’re saying he’s dragging anyone to bed. I think the entire point of the Chinabounder was extolling the ease of it all. You’re also positioning it to seem like he was “taking advantage” of young “innocent” students — these were adult women, fully capable of making up their own minds on who they wish to part thighs for.

Regardless, I’ve not heard a peep about the book in the 2.5 years since this post was made, so I doubt there’s much chance the book is going to hit the NYT’s Bestsellers List. How did you even come across this post?
