Right, so my little birdy’s left the nest. I’ve just finished moving the Hao Hao Report into its very own domain – www.haohaoreport.com. I’m going to miss having the guy around here, but I’ll visit often… and so should you 😉

The Hao Hao Report, for those just stumbling upon this blog, is a little project I started back in… hmm… June? For anyone familiar with Digg, the Hao Hao Report is to China news and blog posts what Digg is to technology news (and now some other stuff). Members of the HHR community submit stories they feel are “hao”. Other members then vote on the story and if it’s good it rises to the top, if not – it continues to float on down the pipe to oblivion.

It’s a great way to get a snapshot of whats happening in the China blogsphere and newsworld. It also provides readers an opportune way to discover new blogs or news sources that otherwise might pass them by.

Also, for rookie bloggers that have something good to say, it offers a chance to get some well-deserved traffic that might otherwise be hard to come by. And for established blog, it never hurts to get some new readers.

When I started the site I had considered there and then giving the idea its own domain, but hesitated because I wasn’t sure if it was just me that thought it was a cool idea. As the move may suggest, I’m now much more sure. We’re pushing 150 members, about 600 individually submitted stories, a nice new site design, loads of new features… the time, as they say, is right.

I feel like the site’s really come into its own and has been well embraced by the community at large. It, along with China Blog List and Chinalyst, has become one of my key tools in sifting through the ever-expanding amount of stuff written about China – and it’s nice to see others also find it useful.
So, please go check out the new digs (ahem) and let me know what you think. I’m always looking to improve it, but as it’s currently just a one man show, I rely on you guys to tell me if something is broken or not working the way you think it should. I also greatly appreciate any feedback and suggestions. Enjoy.

And Merry Christmas everyone!

  1. I really like the new look except for the pink. Why PINK??? Everything else is great.

Congrats on the new domain. (Be careful, though… it can be addictive!)

  2. Haha, would it comfort you to know that it is #5 on my list of things to fix? 🙂 It was a batch photoshop mistake… but isn’t affecting operations, so I’m cleaning up the more pressing things first – like getting the Private Messaging working (done) and adding the ability to add videos to submissions (also done).

And agreed, I bought in bulk and am just itching to register some more 🙂
